Introduction to Asia

Asia is the perfect place for a tropical vacation, a trip filled with art, culture and history, or a place to simply experience other ways of life, whether those are poverty-stricken or filled with royalty. Because it is so large and diverse, it can be difficult to know where to go or what to expect out of certain locations. To better help the traveler who wants to experience Asia, here is a breakdown of the most popular places to visit in Asia and why tourists travel there.
Cambodia
Because of its recent war, Cambodia is an emotional trip. Here there are horror stories of what people suffered, raw human experience of people still suffering, and people that are still very relaxed and extremely friendly. People come here to witness the dolphins at Kratie, The Angkor Complex, which is known as one of the most beautiful temples in the world, and to see the stunning beauty of the old Khmer Civilization as well to learn about the power it held. This gives way for an understanding of the cruel Khmer Rouge Regime and this contrast will leave one in awe for hours. No less than one week should be spent to fully understand this country but two to three weeks is recommended.
China
This populous country is filled with culture and a way of life that has helped found so many others. People visit China to learn about the ancient world and rediscover something about their own selves using that information. Here you can visit the Great Wall and the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Buddhist Caves in Datong, the Terracotta Warriors in Xian, and so many more wonderful sites! The Tiger Leaping Gorge, the Sacred Mountains, and the Rice Terraces are only just a few of the wonderful pieces of scenery that can provide a backdrop to any China vacation. Because it is so expansive, five months is needed to really get to know the country but one could grasp a basic understanding within two.
Hong Kong
Like China, Hong Kong is filled with culture, art and beautiful scenery. But this popular country is mostly known for its wonderful entertainment and nightlife opportunities. While here, shopping among the many markets is a must as is experiencing the big city wandering through shopping centers and taste-testing all of the finest restaurants! Because it is a large city, prices in Hong Kong are expensive. However, vacations can be short as a mere five days will allow one to experience all Hong Kong has to offer!
Laos
People travel to Laos to experience the way other areas of Asia were before they were overtaken by tourism. In Laos you can find small villages and the people within them living among themselves. Laos is a backpackers dream and is also a wonderful place for those who are looking for that tropical vacation on the beach. Because it is slowly becoming more of a tourist attraction, to fully experience life the way it once was, staying two months is recommended.
Malaysia
Those who want to experience all of Asia but simply don’t have the time can visit Malaysia to experience it all in one country! Here you can find any Asian religion, food, culture, entertainment, and history. This country was once untouched by tourism but is becoming a more popular destination to the fact that there are so many different experiences to be had here. There are many great attractions here but checking out the underwater of Perhentian Islands or simply walking along the east coast or in the jungle are among the most popular.
Of course, these are just a few of the most popular cities and countries visited in Asia as detailing each would take a lifetime in itself!
